BIRTHDAYS AND OTHER THINGS TO COME

I haven't been updating lately, because I have been enjoying T's company. She came in last Wednesday. She will be leaving tomorrow to go to Arkansas to spend a few days then drive K and A back to Oklahoma to spend a week. They are coming so K and I can celebrate our birthdays together. K's birthday is on September 2ND and mine is on September 5Th. We will celebrate ours together this year. M, C and Karlie will also drive down to help us celebrate. So, I should have plenty to blog about this week.

RELIEF FROM THE HEAT

M and family left to go back home yesterday. These pictures of C and Karlie were taken at the Hide-A-Way, C's favorite pizza place. I promise Karlie did smile while she was here. In fact she smiled all the time, but for some reason I did not get a picture of her smiling.

As I type this at 2:30 PM, it is only 81 degrees. We woke up to rain this morning. I cannot even remember the last time that it rained. It is so nice outside. We sure needed some relief from the heat. Since it was so nice out, I went and sat on the patio and took pictures of hubby's tomato plant. He bought this kit in the spring. He now has one tomato and lots of blooms. Not sure the tomato will get ripe before we have the first frost. As I was sitting and looking around I noticed these birds were all lined up across the top of the fence. I guess maybe they are enjoying the cooler weather also.

VISITORS

M and family came in Friday night. It is back to over 100 degrees each day now. So, about all they have done is to stay in our neighborhood pool. C loved it but Karlie wasn't sure.

MISS A PLAYS

It has finally cooled off enough for A to play in her backyard. Arkansas has had as brutal a summer with the heat as we have had.

HANGING PICTURES

I think I have been talking about hanging the pictures on our walls every since we moved in. Well folks, after living in this house for almost a year, I think we have them all hung. That is, until I get more pictures of the grand kids, that will need to be framed and hung.

All these pictures are either on the walls going up the stairs or on the walls in the hall upstairs.

My favorite wall.

Looking over the balcony from upstairs.

Pictures every where. This was just a little cubby hole upstairs. We didn't really know what to do with it so we found a table that fit perfectly in it.

I realize that from looking at the pictures that it looks like I have a lot more of C than the rest of the grand kids, but you have to remember C was almost 3 1/2 years old before we had any other grand kids. I am sure the others will eventually catch up with him. I have lots of wall space for more pictures.

STILL HOT!!!!

Well, not a whole lot going on here except that it is still very, very hot. The temperature has been at least 100 degrees or more all this week. The heat index even more. I did get out and drive around for a little while today.

These cows were the only smart animals I saw out today. If I had water to get in I would be in it also.
I was surprised to see water in this creek. I cannot even remember the last time we had rain.

OUR TRIP

We are back. We got home last night. When we arrived at M's house in Kansas City on Friday night, Karlie was sitting on the floor. I asked M if she was crawling and she said, not yet. C was sitting beside her and he said and I quote. Her butt is too heavy, that is why she cannot crawl. I thought that was so funny. He can come up with the best sayings.

We had lots of fun. Mom and Dad went to the Brooks and Dunn concert in St. Louis while, Papaw, T and I babysat. We took C and Karlie to Zonkers on Saturday. Zonkers is an indoor amusement park. That was part of C's birthday present from us. He had lots of fun. He rode the roller coaster four times. He also played lots of games.

T helping him play a game.
C riding one of the rides.

Karlie was not that excited about it all. It was very loud and she had refused to take her afternoon nap.

This was her checking the place out after we first arrived.

She decided it would be more fun if Papaw walked around with her.

But, finally she just gave up and fell asleep. I don't how she slept in a place so noisy.

I want to thank T for coming over and helping us. Well, to be honest T really did most of the taking care of C and Karlie. Also to be honest, I have realized these past two weeks how tiring it can get taking care of little kids. It has been so long since my kids were little, I had forgotten. But, even though it is tiring there is nothing I had rather do.

GOING ON ANOTHER TRIP

Yes, we just got back last Friday and now we are leaving again. We are going to Kansas City to stay with C and Karlie while their mom and dad attend a concert in another city. Also, since we weren't present for C's birthday party last weekend, we will help him celebrate his birthday again this weekend. T will be coming over to help us and also help us take care of them.

It is so hot here. The heat index yesterday was 114. We so need some relief. The other day when T and I had been to the post office and were coming home, we were behind a truck pulling a trailer. In the trailer was a dead horse. We wondered if it had died from the heat. But, also we thought it should not have been in the trailer uncovered. What did little kids think, seeing a dead horse bouncing around. I think C would have been very upset if he had seen it. So, shame on you Arabian Horse Farm of Oklahoma City for not covering the dead horse up.
