TREE CARVINGS AND OTHER THINGS

This week when I was driving around, I decided to drive through a new neighborhood and take pictures. This is an awesome neighborhood. I love the houses and the neighborhood has lots of trees. Some of the old trees, that have died, someone has taken them and carved sculptures out of them. I think that is pretty neat.

One of the houses in the neighborhood. An eagle.

An owl and a raccoon in the hole underneath it.

These pictures were taken last week. The TV weather forecasters said there was a tornado three miles from us. I decided to go sit underneath the stairs. We have a little room that we use for storage underneath the stairs. Hubby decided to stay out and watch the TV to see what was going on. Thank goodness the tornado never touched down.

This is what the sky looked like when I went underneath the stairs.

This is what it looked like when I decided to come out.

MISS A FINGER PAINTS

From the expression on A's face, do you think she wants to finger paint? I think that she is thinking, finger painting is for the birds.

MORE TO OKLAHOMA CITY THAN HORSE FARMS

This weekend, we drove down to The Paseo Arts District in Oklahoma City. Over the Memorial Day weekend, they will have a huge arts festival down there. They are in the process of restoring this district. The Paseo is home to 17 galleries and more than 60 artist. It also has lots of neat restaurants, shops, and coffee houses. Just an unusual kind of area. So, see there is more to Oklahoma City than horse farms.

One of the shops.

This church, located in The Paseo Arts District was built in 1842 in Blackville, New Brunswick, Canada. When the church became in disrepair, the building was dismantled. A man read about it on the Internet and had it shipped on flatbeds to Oklahoma City. The pieces were reassembled in 7 months. Only the bell tower did not survive and had to be replaced. I thought this was kind of an interesting history.

FINDING THE CULPRIT

I think we have found where the snakes are coming from. Lulu must be bringing them. Not sure where she is getting them from. We saw her stretched out on the driveway and the snake was still alive. It was like she was bored with it. I am guessing it was harmless. I need to do like the lady that I read her blog. She just moved to Texas from Pennsylvania. She bought a house on a lake and she has plenty of snakes around her house. So, she bought a poster showing which ones are poisonous and which ones are harmless. She put the poster inside her garage, so she will not kill the harmless ones.

This is a video of the hailstorm that hit Oklahoma City last Sunday. This is baseball size hail hitting a swimming pool over by where we took Karlie to have her pictures made. I have already posted some pictures of the hail.

A AT DAYCARE

I know that most of you that read my blog also read K's and she has posted this picture on her blog. But, there are a few that read mine that don't read hers. I think that this picture is so cute because she is the only little girl in her class at the daycare. K said the teacher told her that one day A and another little boy were dancing. Every once in a while they would stop dancing, hug each other and say AWW and then go back to dancing. The teachers thought it was so cute.

THEY ARE LEAVING

They will all be packing up and going home in the morning. It will be lonely around here again. But, today we went down below us to take some pictures. I love the little pond and rocks and all. I think we got some cute pictures.

HAIL STORM

We took Karlie to get her pictures made today. She was really good and they turned out really cute. After we had them made, we decided we would just go eat and then come back and pick up the pictures after we ate. It takes about 40 minutes for them to print them. I took this picture of C eating because he never eats. He actually ate two pieces of pizza.

After we got through eating we went back to pick up the pictures and there had been a hail storm. It looked like there had been a snow storm with all the golf ball sized hail on the ground. Windows had been beaten out of houses and businesses. There was even holes in houses that were wood. Leaves had been shredded by the hail and all over the streets. C kept saying this is crazy. M ask him if he was going to tell his dad and he said no. She ask him why not and he said because he would not even believe him if he told him. I don't know why the weather surprises me, because after all we do live in Oklahoma. We certainly made a good decision in going about 15 minutes away to eat. The hail.

VISITORS

Guess who came to visit Momo and Pappa? Aunt T, M, C and Karlie all came in last night. T had given me a fire pit for Christmas and we had never even taken it out of the box. So, hubby put it together and we roasted hot dogs and marsh mellows to make spores tonight. C really enjoyed it. Tomorrow we are taking Karlie to have professional pictures made and I think going to the Hide- A -Way to eat pizza.
I know I always say this but Karlie is the best baby in the world.

THE SIGHTS TODAY

This week on my drive I just took pictures of pretty things. I saw so many pretty roses.

This is a sculpture of a buffalo.
This sculpture is a oak leaf with acorns.

This a bird sculpture of some kind.

I did take one picture of some long horns. M says that C always tells her to check Momo's blog and see if I put on any pictures of animals, so these are for C.

We are expecting bad weather later today and tonight. I guess I will be spending lots of time underneath the stairs.

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT

I received this hydrangea plant in the mail yesterday from my daughter T for Mother's Day. It is beautiful. I love the vase it is in also. Thanks T. T probably sent this to replace the one she sent four years ago. I never set it in the ground. It was in a pot out on our patio and when we found out we were moving back to Oklahoma, we brought it with us. Well, it did not survive this winter. I guess the winter was just to harsh for it. I was very disappointed.

BARN SWALLOW

This is a bird's nest over the ledge of our front porch. It is made of mud. I had to research to find out what kind of birds build their nest out of mud. I found out it is a barn swallow.

OUR TRIP

Hubby and I left for Kansas City on Friday afternoon. When we arrived M had made Alfredo Chicken for dinner. T came over and brought strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was all very good.

On Saturday, we went to this place called Fritz's to eat lunch. I saw it on a blog that I read. You go and sit at a table and order and a train brings your food to you. I knew when I read about it, that it would be something that C would love and he did. None of my family that lives in KC had ever heard of Fritz's.

One of the trains that brings the food. The food is on the little tray underneath and when is gets to your table, it drops the food.

C and his dad anticipating the train coming.

Hubby deciding what to order.

On Sunday, we went down to the Power and Light district in downtown Kansas City. T works for Kansas City Power and Light. The reason we wanted to go see where she works is because T's last day of work is this Friday and she is moving back to Oklahoma City. Yea!!!!! But, first she has to sell her house in Kansas City and then find a job in OKC and buy a house back in OKC. I am sure it will be easy to find a house back here.

T always talks about this place called Johnny's Burgers, that is located in Power and Light district. So, we decided since we were down there that we would go there and eat. She is right they do have awesome burgers. Don't they look good.

C ask me to take a picture of him holding this french fry. He said it was the biggest fry he had ever seen. After I took the picture, he said Momo make sure you send it to me.

Karlie and her mom.

Karlie and her Aunt T.

On Monday, we went to Legions. C likes to go there because of the fountain and he also likes to get pretzels from Auntie Anne's. His mom and I like to go the children's outlets and shop for clothes. I am still amazed that even at an outlet that Gymbroee is still that expensive.

Karlie is so good, sometimes I forget she is even there. She enjoyed watching everyone and looking at the fountain.

We got us this morning and came home. We had a very busy three days but it was lots of fun.
