HUBBY CELEBRATES 59TH BIRTHDAY

Today is hubby's birthday, so he got to choose where to go eat. His favorite is barbecue, so we went to a barbecue restaurant with an interesting history. The barbecue at this restaurant is probably the best in OKC, but I ate chicken. Back to the history of the building, that houses this restaurant. Back in the late 20's and 30's it was occupied by a prohibition-era dance hall, gambling place and bordello. It was a popular hangout for outlaw Pretty Boy Floyd, who was from Oklahoma. The little separate rooms have trap doors and there is a tunnel underneath them that runs to an abandoned house across the street. It is said that when the FBI would show up, the gangsters would go through the trap door, through the tunnel and escape. It is also said to be haunted. Voices can be heard from what was the bordello section late at night.

We went yesterday at about 3:30 and it wasn't crowded. In fact us and another family were the only ones there. So we got to sit in one of the little rooms all by our self. We didn't see the trap door because it was covered by a rug. Also just so you know, we didn't see or hear any ghost while we were there.

The building.

Hubby's plate of ribs, sausage and brisket.

My chicken plate. I had enough left over to eat tonight. That bread in the background is the best bread ever. We kept saying how much we knew the kids would love the bread.

Hubby ate every thing on his plate. We were going to get a piece of cake since it was hubby's birthday but we just couldn't hold any thing else. It is a little pricey for barbecue but probably because the portions are so large.
