LOTS OF DUCKS

Well, it did make it up to 40 degrees yesterday, just barely. So, I decided we should get out of the house for awhile. We drove through Starbucks and got hot chocolate and then just drove around. Every neighborhood that we drove through, that had a little lake, the lake was covered with ducks. I guess the lakes had been frozen and now they were beginning to melt. On one lake in a neighborhood, there were kids skating on the lake. That seemed a little dangerous with the temperatures at 40 degrees.

There is a puddle in the middle of this lake, that is thawed. The rest is ice.

Doesn't the sky look pretty and blue.

I know the ducks are happy that it is warming up and the ice is melting.

THE WEATHER

Almost every blog that I have read today has mentioned something about the weather I think. We still have snow from Christmas, it just won't melt. It is 22 degrees here at this moment but feels like 8 degrees. Tomorrows high is suppose to be 18 degrees with a low of 4 degrees tomorrow night. But, hey, that is an improvement. At first they said the low would be zero.

So, we decided to go out and eat last night since it was in the forties here, yesterday. I am sure we probably won't be braving the cold to go out and eat on Friday night. We also went to the grocery store. I think this weekend, we will just stay in and hang pictures on our walls.

We moved in this house, the first of October and before I knew it, the holidays were here. So, I just haven't gotten around to hanging the pictures. They have been stacked in our garage. This house, so far, just doesn't feel like home. So, I am hoping, once we get the pictures hung, that it will.

It felt so cold when I opened the door to take this picture. I really feel for anyone that has to be out in it for any length of time. I also feel so sorry for the animals.

COOKING SHOW

T and her friend from work got to have their picture taken with Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. They attended his cooking show when he was in Kansas City. The price of a ticket wasn't cheap, but T said it was worth it, that she really enjoyed it.

GUEST BATHROOM

My goal for after Christmas was to take each room of the house and get it completely put together before I move on to the next room. Well, I think I can say that I have the guest bathroom downstairs completely put together. So, at least one room down. All the rooms in our house are painted taupe. Except this bathroom is painted green and I really like the color. The paint colors in the other rooms will change eventually, but for now they will stay this color. I am definitely not ready to start painting. I always feel like I am in a dungeon when I go in this bathroom. It is underneath the stairs. Maybe it is because it doesn't have a window in it. But, we have lived in houses before where the bathroom doesn't have a window and I didn't feel that way.

ALMOST ONE

Someone has a birthday coming up in a few weeks. Isn't she cute in her little birthday outfit. K took these pictures trying to decide which ones to put on her birthday invitations. It is hard to believe that A is almost one year old. So many things have happened this past year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!

Our New Year's Eve consisted of going out to eat and then coming home and putting a bookcase together. T, K and I chatted on IM until almost midnight, then hubby and I drank champange and went to bed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE.
