OUR TRIP/GALVESTON

Our girl's trip this year was to the ocean.  We call it the girl's trip but of course we allow Carter to come.  This was the first time for any of my grandchildren to see the ocean.  I thought they might be afraid of the ocean but they loved it.  When Karlie left today she told me she wanted to go to the same ocean again next year.We stayed at the Point West Resort.  It was a really nice private resort.  We could see the ocean from our condo.

It rained on us most of the way.  It took us over 10 hours to get from OKC to Galveston.  We made several stops to potty and also to eat.  The little girls really enjoyed seeing the tall buildings as we went through Houston.

The resort.  Also, the first time for the kids to see palm trees.  They fell in love with palm trees.

The pier that everyone had to walk across to get to the beach from our condo.  There was a sign that said there were rattlesnakes below.

The first night after we arrived, we went to the West End Restaurant on the bay.

Abby and Karlie wanted to sleep on the top bunk together, but that didn't happen.

Karlie eating her breakfast,  the first morning after we arrived, out on the balcony.

Abby just waking up and coming out on the balcony.
The first day of going to the beach.  Karlie on her boogie board.  I was so surprised that  they would get on a boogie board in the ocean.

I think you can tell Karlie was having fun.
Carter with his boogie board.
He was pretty good on it.
The first day after we arrived,  they only got to spend about three hours on the beach.  It came up a storm and we found out later that a tornado actually went north of us.  This is Michelle, Carter and Karlie looking out the window,  after they ran back to the condo.  Karlie was running so fast that she ran out of her flip flops.  She kept on running barefoot and got a sticker in her foot.
Since it was raining and they couldn't go to the beach, they went to the Beach club, which was located in the resort.  Abby and Karlie playing air hockey.

The pool at the Beach Club.

Abby and Karlie eating at the pool.  Karlie only ate half her hamburger and got a to go box for it.  After going to swim, she came back and the box was open and the top bun gone.  A little girl at the table next to her said she saw the bird open the box and eat her bun.  Karlie said it was OK that the bird ate it.

Abby and Carter in the hot tub.  Tracy said when the kids got in the hot tub, some of the adults got out.

The 2nd day at the beach.  Michelle and Carter.  They were at the beach for a long time that day.  Tracy ended up getting a really bad sunburn.  Abby also got a little sunburn and Kim applied sunscreen to her constantly.

Karlie enjoyed building castles in the sand.

This is Tracy and Abby.
The next picture, a big  wave goes over their heads.
The last night we were there, we went to the Miller Sea Wall Grill.  Karlie wanted a salad to go with her grilled cheese sandwich. I don't think many 4 year olds like salads.  The food was really good.

Abby with her grilled cheese and fries.
Abby entertaining us at the restaurant.  Yes, some people were looking.

A photo shoot around the resort and beach before we checked out.  Abby, on one of the balconies.

Karlie and Abby on the balcony.

The three on the balcony.  The bay is in the background from this balcony.

The flags were my idea since it was so close to the 4th.

It was very windy the entire time we were there.

You can see in this picture that Abby got a little sunburned.  It never did bother her that much though.
