Early Thursday morning I received that call that I am sure everyone has received at some point in their life or if they haven't, they will.
My cell phone rang at 1 a.m. and I just lay in bed and thought and prayed it was a wrong number. But, then the house phone rang and I heard my brother's name on the caller ID and I knew for sure what had happened. Yes, he was calling to tell me that my mother had just passed away.
She had broken her hip two days before Christmas and had surgery and had developed an infection. She was running a fever, so the nursing home called for an ambulance to take her to the hospital. All the way to the hospital she was alert, but she lost it when they arrived and as they wheeled her into the hospital she took two breaths and that was it.
Then we started trying to make plans for all our family to be at her funeral. Plus I was trying to help my brother make plans for the funeral and I was 9 hours away. We finally decided we would leave Friday morning and stop in Little Rock and pick K and A up. The funeral was to be at 2:00 on Saturday. Then M and T would fly into Little Rock and T would leave Friday afternoon and go to the airport in Little Rock and pick them up and then we would all meet at a hotel in Tupelo, Mississippi. We do not have any family in the town that she was being buried in anymore.
My sister-in-law called on Thursday afternoon and asked if I would go and buy the dress for her to be buried in. I am so thankful that I had T to do that for me.
All her living children were at the funeral and 9 out of her 10 grand kids were present. She also leaves behind 19 great grand children.
I could write many a story about my mother. Maybe I will some day. She had a hard life. She was one special lady.

THE HOTEL POOL
The weekend M and family met us in Little Rock for A's birthday party, they stayed in a hotel. A hotel that had an indoor pool. C loved it. I think Karlie may have like it also.
T, hubby and I went to the hotel to visit with them and the first thing C did was to take T and show her the pool and hot tub. We all wanted to go and swim even though A still doesn't get that excited with the pool. But, there was just too much going on and we didn't have the time.
A few pictures of them in the pool.

MISS A'S BIRTHDAY PARTY
Miss A's birthday party this year was at a local party place. K thought it would be less stressful to not have it at the house. No one would have to clean, decorate, cook food and then clean up afterward. Well, as it turns out, it was just as stressful. This party place had rooms for birthday parties and also had lots of rides and games. So, to get to the room where the party is, they take you through the area where all the games and rides are. Well, after A saw all the rides, she had no interest what so ever of going into the room for cake and opening her gifts. So, this might not have been the best idea for a two year old's birthday party.
The only interest she had in the room was the cupcakes.
Mommy had to let her eat a cupcake in order to stay in the room long enough for the gifts to be opened.
A ate her cupcake while mommy opened her gifts.
Singing Happy Birthday to A. I guess she was embarrassed is the reason she is laying her head on mommy's shoulder.
This is what A did most of the time that we were all there. Yes, she does still have frosting on her face. But, she did not care.
My two grand-daughters together. A rare occasion.
A with her little friend Mason.

Karlie enjoyed herself also.
Aunt T and Karlie.
I didn't get many pictures of C. Hope his mom did with her camera. I think A had a great time and everyone else did too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY A!!!!
Miss A is two today. It is hard to believe that it has already been two years since she was born. I remember going to the hospital the day after she was born and it was the coldest day on record in Little Rock. Hubby dropped me off at the door and just walking from the car into the hospital, I thought I was going to freeze.
We will be leaving for Arkansas tomorrow to help A celebrate her birthday. M and family from Kansas City will be joining us and we will also get together to do our Christmas gift exchange with M and family. We haven't seen them since Thanksgiving.

SNOW DAY 2011 KANSAS CITY
Well Kansas City also got snow. It seems like we may have been the only ones that didn't.
M said that Karlie loved it until she found out that it was cold.
M said that she had to take her in the house because she would just go and sit down in it.
Looks like C was enjoying it also.

His dad probably likes that he can help shovel now.
I just had to post this one. M said that when they were looking at the pictures later, C said doesn't it look like I am pooping.
This is Karlie's meltdown after M made her come in the house.

MISS A IN THE SNOW
We didn't actually end up getting much accumulation of snow here in Oklahoma. It is still snowing though, so who knows, we may in the end. But, K and family got several inches in Arkansas. K said that A got up from her nap and looked out the window and said, OH NO! What a mess! But, then she wanted to go out and play in it. So, they bundled her up quickly and let her go out. K said that is why she doesn't match very well. Tucker thinks that they for sure wanted him to pose for the picture.

"IT IS SNOWING"
It is snowing here and these big old crows are everywhere. They are much bigger, looking at them in person, than in the picture. Hubby just commented that they are the biggest crows that he has ever seen. They are flying around like they are confused but they are probably just looking for food.
This is the first snow that we have seen this winter. By this time last year, we had already had two big snows. There is also a winter storm warning out for how low the temperatures are going to drop.

MOMO'S CHRISTMAS GIFT
My Christmas gift from hubby finally arrived yesterday. We have found out in all our moves, that sometimes a round table doesn't fit. It definitely did not fit in this breakfast room. But, we are holding onto it, because it just might fit in the next house. The next thing on my list is a new rug to go under it. But, I have no idea what kind of rug I want. I am putting the picture on for M and K. They wanted to know what it looks like.
