TABLE ROCK LAKE-1986

We are having our family get-together this year on Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri. Michelle and family and Kim and family will meet Tracy, hubby and I there. We have rented a condo that will fit all of us and we will have a view of the lake. This picture was taken of the the first time the kids went to Table Rock Lake back in 1986. We were on our way home back to Oklahoma and we stopped by for a little while. Kim had gotten the little umbrella at Silver Dollar City.

FOUNTAINBLEAU-MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA 1982

Hubby and I stayed at the Fountainbleau Hotel in Miami Beach,  Florida for 8 days back in October of 1982. 

Hubby was receiving a special designation.  I remember it meant we would be gone on Tracy's birthday and she was so sad about that.  But, I thought it might be the only chance I would ever get to go to Miami and especially stay in the Fountainbleau, so I didn't want to pass up going.  Many movies have been made with the Fountainbleau in it.

We had a great time, but 8 days was a long time for me and I didn't think I was ever going to get back to Oklahoma.  Oh and it was the first time I had ever flown and also the last.  Maybe I will fly again, who knows. My parents came and stayed with the kids while we were gone and I think it was a long week for them also.  I am sure they were so ready to get back to Mississippi.

A funny story while we were staying at the Fountainbleu.  One morning hubby and I got up early, for us and went to sunbathe in beach chairs,  overlooking the beach.  People started looking at us and pointing.  Well, I have always been self-conscious about my looks and I was in a swimsuit, so normally, I thought they were talking about me. I decided to look beside me and a lady was lounging in a chair right next to me with her bikini top off.   So, they were looking and pointing at her, not me.  I was sure relieved to know that it was not me that they were looking and pointing at.  But,  also I could not believe  the Fountainbleau allowed her to do that.

This is a picture of what the Fountainbleau looked like back in 1982 when we stayed in it.  I thought it was the most beautiful landscaping I had ever seen.  We loved the rock pool, which also had a waterfall.But, it looks like now they have done away with the rock pool and built a new pool or maybe they have more than one pool now.

 This is what it looks like now.  It has changed a lot since 1982.  Hubby said the other day that he guessed we needed to go back, but I think this time, we need to take the kids and grand kids  I remember when we were there, thinking someday I wanted to bring the kids to stay in it.  Although it might be best to stay in a condo close to the Fountainbleau, since there would be so many of us now.

OUR FOURTH-2013

Tracy, hubby and I met Kim and family at Heber Springs, Ar. for the fourth.  We rented a cabin on the river.  It was not our first choice but we we waited  too long and all the cabins on the lake were already rented.  We will reserve earlier for next year.  It was actually quite interesting staying on the river though.  You just never know what you may see floating down the river.

Our fourth celebration started with us all arriving about the same time in the afternoon on the fourth.  We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.  We also had baked beans, chips, cantaloupe and later on watermelon.

We had a long pier that led down to the dock.  Abby is fishing from the dock.  She didn't know it, but her fishing pole didn't even have a hook on it, so there was no way she was going to catch a fish.

There were almost always geese either going up or down on the river.

We think this was a vulture.  It stayed in the tree for a long time.

The dog had on a life jacket.  Abby thought this was pretty funny.

We also did sparklers the night of the fourth.

The beach on the lake that we wanted to stay on.  Abby loved it.  It was just a huge sand box to her.

Abby modeling her new cheer leading costume.  Kim has always been an OSU fan but after living in Arkansas for over ten years, she has decided it is time to switch.  Abby could care less what team she supports.

HAPPY FOURTH

Whenever I go sit on the patio, I can see this flag blowing through the leaves on the tree. It just looks really pretty because the wind always blows in Oklahoma. I tried to get a picture of it through the leaves on the tree but it did not turn out. So, hubby went out on the sidewalk and snapped this picture.

We will be spending a few days here on the fourth. The house we have rented is actually on a river but there is a lake close by. Tracy, hubby and I will be meeting Kim, Jamie and Abby. Just hope the humidity is not that high and the mosquitoes don't eat us alive.
