OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

This is what I see out my window, when I go up to the bonus room and look out. When I was looking out today, I thought this just looks like Oklahoma. Lulu and I looked out the window for a long time today, while I took pictures. Some times, the fence rail will be covered with crows. Today there were only four. One stayed up in the tree the whole time. Maybe, he was watching out for the others. We live on the edge of the country. Our neighborhood is surrounded by pastures and cows. Yet, we are only about five minutes from restaurants and shopping. The best of both worlds.

HOMEMADE ROAST

T is coming in tonight from Kansas City. There is an OSU game tomorrow night, that her and hubby will be attending. We usually go out to eat, but we decided that I should just have dinner ready when she gets here tonight. I suggested grilling and hubby said T had rather I just cook a roast. I think really, that hubby just wanted me to cook a roast instead of grilling.

This is the first roast I have cooked since we moved into this house. Hubby will always say that I don't put enough carrots and potatoes, but I tell him the pan will only hold so much, I have to have some room for the roast. We usually buy an English roast, but they did not have them at the store last night. Maybe that is just a Southern thing.

I promise there is a roast below all those potatoes and carrots. You can see some meat in the second picture. I then pour two cans of mushroom soup on top of the carrots and potatoes and cook all afternoon. I always dread cooking a roast but after it is in the oven your meal is finished except that I will open a can or two of green beans and cook and heat up some rolls.

THANKSGIVING 2000

I am still unpacking and I ran across these pictures. I had forgotten about taking these. They were completely separate from all my other pictures for some reason.

This was the first Thanksgiving after T and M married in 2000. We all went to Kansas City for Thanksgiving that year. If I remember correctly there was a snow on the ground that year. This was the first house that they bought and lived in for five years. They all look so young in these pictures.

As soon as Thanksgiving dinner was over they decorated the house for Christmas. Then we drove down to the Plaza to see all the Christmas lights. I tried to zoom in but this was before digital cameras, so the quality is not the best.

LATE HALLOWEEN PICS

I know that Halloween is over, but I wanted to post these pictures. M and T were friends of these kid's parents long before any of these kids were born. They all have kids about the same age and they still get together for every holiday and have a party for all the kids. The alligator and cat and ladybug costumes were made by these kids grandmas. They do such a good job on them. Of course the little power ranger on the right is C. Neither of C's grandmas sew. M has said to me an many occasions that she wished I could sew and so do I. Maybe it is not too late to learn.

OUR SHORT VISIT TO ARKANSAS

When I received the news Friday morning from T that M was at the hospital in labor, hubby and I were packing to leave to visit K, J and A in Arkansas. We decided to go ahead and go because we had already planned to go a week or two after Karlie was born. I think a mom needs to get settled in before she has house guest. But, I can't wait to see our new granddaughter.

We arrived at K's house late Friday night and I am pretty sure A knew who we were, even though she hadn't seen us in six weeks. She was all smiles and when I went and sat on the couch she came and pulled my shirt for me to pick her up.

K had already decided she wanted to go to Red Lobster to eat Saturday night. J was at a martial arts tournament in Eureka Springs.

Mostly what I did was sit in A's playroom and watch her play. We took her some new toys to play with.

In this picture she is checking out her dad's collection of trophies that he won at the tournament after he returned on Saturday night.

We got up on Sunday morning and headed back to Oklahoma. It was sure sad to leave. I think A was kind of sad to see us leave also. We probably won't see them again until Christmas.
